The
highly varied relief, the mild climatic conditions and the great displacement
(1100 m) determine the rich biological diversity that could be discovered
on the territory of Bulgarka Nature Park and Uzana. Over 400 types of
plants grow there and almost 70% of the officially recognized herbs in
Bulgaria as medicative can be found there.
There are different types of trees the most common of which is the beech
- 68%. There are also different types of oak trees – the common
oak, the water oak and the hornbeam as well as acacia, lime trees, ash
trees, sycamore, elm trees and mountain ash. The coniferous types are
the white and black pine trees, the spruce, the white fir, the fir and
the European larch, most of which are artificially planted.
Bulgarka Nature Park and Uzana are habitats of different types of animals
– spinal and invertebrates. The most common representatives of the
small mammals are: the hedgehog, the hare, the hamster, the wild and common
sloth, the yellow wild mouse, the mole. The big mammals are: the wolf,
the bear, the wild boar, the royal stag and the deer.
